For nearly two decades, ADAO has been a leader in the fight against asbestos use and the prevention of asbestos-related diseases. This year, our unwavering commitment has propelled us to the brink of a historic victory: the enactment of the bipartisan Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act (ARBAN).

Our Key Accomplishments in 2023:

  1. Continuing Strategic Bipartisan Efforts: We are actively working to secure the passage of the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act, engaging with policymakers across the political spectrum to achieve this crucial legislative goal.
  2. Hosting Our Impactful Annual Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference: Elevating awareness and driving advocacy.
  3. Holding the EPA Accountable in Risk Evaluations, Management, and Regulations: Shaping science-based asbestos regulations.
  4. Collaborating with the FDA: Strengthening cosmetics regulations to protect public health.
  5. Publishing a Comprehensive Report on Asbestos: Providing in-depth insights into asbestos-related challenges.
  6. Scaling Global Asbestos Awareness Week: Extending our global outreach.
  7. Expanding ‘Asbestos: Art, Advocacy, and Action’: Merging artistic creativity with advocacy efforts.
  8. Serving as a Resource for the Media: Offering insights for public discourse, exemplified by our contribution to ProPublica’s “Toxic Burden.”
  9. Supporting Community Efforts: Partnering with community groups and local organizations, we empower grassroots movements, amplify affected voices, provide educational resources, and build a support network for those impacted by asbestos-related diseases as seen in our “Share Your Story Collection.”
