Each year, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) dedicates April 1-7 to increasing awareness of asbestos and preventing exposure by bringing together experts and victims from around the world to share, learn, and take action. Asbestos is a known human carcinogen, and there is no safe level of exposure. While promising research continues, prevention remains the only cure.

Leadership Quote: “I’m proud to represent IOSH once again partnering with ADAO for Global Asbestos Awareness Week this year to champion all those worldwide tackling the lethal legacy of asbestos.” – Louise Hosking, President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health

Call To Action: Sign the Petition to Ban Asbestos Now Without Any Loopholes or Exemptions

Asbestos Fact: There are six types of asbestos fibers. All six fibers can cause lung cancer, mesothelioma, cancer of the larynx and ovary, and asbestosis.

Today, we’re highlighting ADAO’s fabulous collaborators. We’re also remembering Mike with his story “Staying Positive”.

ADAO’s small but mighty team has created a network of tens of thousands, and we’re leading the charge for legislative change regarding asbestos imports and use. One thing that makes this all possible is the power of collaboration.

Today’s Partner for Prevention is the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Special thanks to our 2022 Platinum Sponsor Simmons Hanly Conroy.

Together, we make change happen.
