As Mesothelioma Awareness Month comes to a close, ADAO is looking forward to sharing information on asbestos diseases and prevention for October’s Health Literacy Month.

The ADAO four-part awareness and prevention blog series will begin on Monday, October 2nd, and will present information that is easy to understand and even easier to share. Everyone should know the “Irrefutable Facts” about preventing asbestos exposure because until researchers find a cure, the only way to stop asbestos-caused diseases is to avoid asbestos completely. Asbestos remains legal and lethal in the USA. Each year, over 40,000 Americans die from preventable asbestos-caused diseases, yet imports have risen significantly. ADAO remains dedicated to increasing health literacy to prevent exposure and improve treatment options.

On Mesothelioma Awareness Day, Rep. Don Bacon signed on to ARBAN as a co-sponsor, making history as the first Republican co-sponsor and officially making ARBAN a bipartisan bill. We are grateful for his leadership and the steadfast commitment of our other cosponsors. We hope that October’s Health Literacy Month continues to educate others about the importance of passing this bipartisan legislation.

The Asbestos Disease Awareness and Prevention Four-Part Series includes:

October 2nd — Part One: Prevent Asbestos Exposure
October 9th — Part Two: Recognize High-Risk Occupations
October 16th — Part Three: Understand the Warning Symptoms for Asbestos-Caused Diseases
October 23rd — Part Four: Finding a Center of Excellence for Treatment

As we say at ADAO, “Hear Asbestos. Think Prevention.” Thank you for joining us and sharing this life-saving information during Health Literacy Month!
