Thousands of girlbosses of all backgrounds will gather October 27-29 in Detroit, MI for the Women’s Convention, “Reclaiming Our Time,” which promises to be a weekend of workshops, strategy sessions, inspiring forums and intersectional movement building. Tapping into the power of women in leadership as a fundamental, grassroots force for change, the Women’s Convention will bring together activists and social leaders, rising political stars that reflect our nation’s changing demographics, and thousands of women who’ve organized sister marches, huddles, rallies and resistance actions, large and small, since the January 2017 Women’s March.

The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is excited and honored to join the convention as a speaker on the NRDC Action Fund panel, “How to Win the War the Trump Administration is Waging on our Health.” The session, scheduled for Friday, October 27 from 2:15PM – 3:30PM, will focus on threats from corporate lobbyists and their friends in the Trump administration and Congress are rushing to undo federal protections that keep us and our families safe. The fight is on to stop a broad rollback of critical safeguards. Our panelists will talk about how to engage people who normally take these protections for granted.

For the session, ADAO is pleased to join the following esteemed presenters:

  • Melissa Waage, NRDC Action Fund (Moderator)
  • Ana Unruh Cohen, Director of Government Affairs, NRDC Action Fund
  • Celinda Lake, Lake Research Partners

During the panel, ADAO will share its latest legislative and advocacy efforts – specifically zooming into how tragic natural disasters and climate change are impacting our nation’s public health and communities – and what we can do about it. Check out a full line-up of the weekend here

ADAO salutes the Women’s Convention and NRDC Action Fund for their leadership, innovation, and commitment to social justice and advocacy.

Stay tuned for live conference updates at the end of the month!

Together, change is possible.
