ADAO PRESIDENT CALLS SUPREME COURT DECISION A MONUMENTAL SETBACK FOR PUBLIC HEALTH

The following statement is from Linda Reinstein, president and cofounder of ADAO, in response to the Supreme Court’s Chevron decision:

“The Supreme Court’s Chevron decision is a monumental setback that will harm all Americans and profoundly impact our nation’s environmental safeguards and public health protections. By stripping agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency of their ability to effectively regulate and protect our environment and public health at a time when decisive action is more critical than ever, the Court has set us on a path towards policy paralysis and increased judicial interference in matters best managed by subject-matter experts. With this decision, public health is at increased risk from the impacts of an ever-worsening climate crisis, pollutants and toxic chemicals like asbestos. This is a legal decision Americans can’t afford that puts profits over people.”
