Before the start of the United Nations’ Rio+ 20 Conference on Sustainable Development, ADAO asked our community to vote for a recent article titled, “Ensure all Jobs are Healthy Jobs” in support of creating healthy jobs for future sustainable development. The article advocated that healthy jobs and green jobs are the same thing, and should be pursued as a means of global sustainable development.

Voting was conducted through the innovative “Rio+ 20 Dialogues” page, which allowed participants from all sectors of society, and from all around the globe to communicate with each other, read proposed articles, and share important information regarding global issues. While the article generated a significant amount of support, it was not ultimately selected for the top ten discussion subjects. However, the article generated much discussion of this important issue among scientific, medical and governmental leaders.

The Rio+ 20 Dialogues panel selected from the stiff competition a subject ADAO fully supports: to “Put Education in the core of the Sustainable Development Goals agenda.” ADAO has long been as advocate of education as a means of disease prevention and for sustainable society development. We are pleased to see the U.N. and those who participated in the Rio+ 20 Dialogues conversation share this belief that education is a key to sustainable progress and healthy future generations.
